Jones was hanged in the yard of the Jefferson County jail at Birmingham, Alabama, on June 25, 1915, for murder.
In his cell he left a written statement confessing to thirteen killings in several states over the preceding years, described as random shootings of people he encountered.
That statement is the entire basis of the number in this roster. No independent investigation of the other twelve is recorded, no victim is named in anything accessible, and the confession was made by a man who was going to be hanged the next morning and had nothing to gain or lose by it either way.
