Plut was born in 1968. In 1990 he killed a woman in Slovenia and was convicted and imprisoned. He was released, and in 2004 and 2006 he killed two more women, one of them in Serbia; all three were stabbed and there were rapes.
He was arrested on February 25, 2006. He was sentenced to thirty years on October 2, 2006 and to forty years on April 26, 2007 in the second proceeding.
He killed himself on April 28, 2007, two days after the second sentence, by overdosing on sleeping tablets at the prison in Ljubljana.
He is the second Slovenian case in this archive, with Metod Trobec, and both ended in suicide in custody. The accessible sourcing is Slovenian-language material and is thin on the 1990 conviction and on how much of that sentence he served. Which is the part of the case that matters, since two women died after his release.
