Brooks was born in 1969 and lived in Detroit.
Between 2001 and 2006 he attacked women, most of them working as prostitutes on the east side, in vacant houses and open ground, raping them and beating them to death with rocks, bricks and pieces of wood. Seven died.
The women named in the record are Sandra Davis, fifty-three; Pamela Greer, thirty-three; Marion Woods-Daniels, thirty-six; Rhonda Myles, forty-five; Thelma Johnson, thirty; and Melissa Toston, thirty-eight. One was never identified.
He was arrested on July 30, 2006 and convicted, and on March 27, 2007 was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. Further sentences followed in September 2007 on additional counts.
Detroit at that time had tens of thousands of empty structures, and the entry records that because it is part of the mechanism: the attacks took place inside buildings nobody entered, and the bodies were found by chance or not for some time.
