Andrews was born in 1945 and lived in Chicago. He had a long record of violent offences and was in and out of custody through the 1970s and 1980s.
In June 1999 he was charged with the murder, rape and aggravated kidnapping of Susan Clark, sixteen, killed in 1977. The case had been unsolved for twenty-two years and was made by biological evidence retained from the original investigation and tested when the technology allowed it.
He was convicted, sentenced to life imprisonment, and died in prison on January 31, 2006.
