Ncama was born in 1969 and lived in the Port Elizabeth area of the Eastern Cape. Between May and October 1997 he attacked women, raping and strangling them; the dead included Luyanda Ngcizela, twenty-one, a policewoman, and Nompumelelo Mpushe, twenty-six, a secretary at the provincial legislature.
