White was born on July 28, 1960 and lived in Orange County, New York. He had a long record and had been released on parole in 1991 after serving part of a sentence for assault.
Between 1991 and 1992 he killed six women: Juliana Frank, twenty-eight; Christine Klebbe, fourteen; Laurette Huggins Reviere, thirty-four; Angelina Hopkins, twenty-three; Brenda Whiteside, thirty-two; and Adriane Hunter, twenty-seven. They were stabbed and beaten, and the bodies were left in wooded areas and by roadsides in the Newburgh area.
He was arrested on August 2, 1992 and confessed. He told investigators that he had copied a killing from the film Robocop 2, a claim that was widely reported at the time and has followed the case ever since; it should be treated as what a man in custody said about himself rather than as an established account of his motive.
He was convicted and sentenced on May 27, 1993 to 150 years to life.
The parole is the part of the case that was examined in New York: he was under supervision for the whole of the period in which he killed six people.
