Before 2006, no one suspected Scott Williams, a North Carolina Department of Transportation road-crew worker from Monroe with no criminal record. On July 18, 2008, he was convicted in Union County of three first-degree murders and sentenced to three consecutive terms of life without parole.
Williams was arrested in March 2006 after the body of Sharon Tucker Stone was found in February off a road in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. Investigators then linked him to the earlier deaths of Sharon House Pressley and Christina Outz Parker and charged him with all three murders. His three murder convictions carry offense dates of September 1997, December 2003 and January 2006. He was also convicted of kidnapping, first-degree rape, attempted first-degree murder, a first-degree sex offense and armed robbery, for crimes dating back to 1995. He was admitted to Central Prison the same day, and state prison records list his death in August 2022.
Williams was charged in 2006 with three murders, an attempted murder, a sex offense and kidnapping, while his 2008 convictions also included first-degree rape and armed robbery.
