Li was born in 1960 and drove a taxi in Beijing. In 1995 he killed his former employer, Song Shutian, together with Song's wife and their twelve-year-old daughter. The reported motive was a grievance over his dismissal and money owed. That case went unsolved for years.
Between 2002 and 2003 he killed four women working as prostitutes, whom he picked up in his taxi. They were stabbed, and some of the bodies were dismembered.
He was arrested in June 2003 and executed on June 15, 2004, a year later.
