Warren was born in 1967 and was serving in the United States Army at Fort Drum in northern New York. The press called him the Babyface Killer.
In May 1987 he met Patsy Vineyard, a soldier's wife, and killed her. Between then and 1990 he killed three more women in New York, North Carolina and South Carolina, strangling them. He was arrested on July 20, 1990.

He was convicted in North Carolina and sentenced to death on October 6, 1995. He was also convicted in New York.
