Kennedy was born in 1943 and lived as a drifter, connected with outlaw motorcycle clubs in Florida and Georgia, with a long record and a period as an escaped prisoner.
In 1973, aged thirty, he was confined at Lake City, Florida, and began describing killings he had committed in Florida, Arkansas, Georgia, New Mexico and Texas going back to 1958, involving beatings, strangling and shooting. The figure of nine or more in this roster is drawn from those statements.
He was convicted in Georgia and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1973.
The other killings he described were not charged. As with the other confession-driven entries in this archive, detectives from several states came to interview him and the accounts produced no prosecutions, and there is no accessible record of how far any of them were tested.
