Marlow was born in 1956, an ex-convict from Kentucky known as the Folsom Wolf, with white supremacist prison affiliations. In 1986 he was travelling with Cynthia Coffman, and the two of them robbed and killed.
Between July and November 1986 five people were killed in California and Arizona, shot or strangled, in the course of robberies and abductions, several of the victims taken from cash machines or from their workplaces. The last, Corinna Novis, twenty, was abducted in Redlands, California, raped and strangled, and buried in a vineyard.
The five were Gregory Hill; Sandra Neary, thirty-two; Pamela Simmons, thirty-five; Corinna Novis, twenty; and Lynel Murray, nineteen.
Both were arrested in November 1986 in Big Bear, California.
He was sentenced to death in California on August 30, 1989. Coffman was also sentenced to death, the first woman condemned in California after the restoration of capital punishment there.
Neither has been executed; California has carried out no execution since 2006 and has had a moratorium since 2019.
