Convicted of murder, rape, molestation and theft by the Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People's Court in September 2005 and sentenced to death. Fu Hegong was born in 1973 into a peasant family in Miyun County, on the outskirts of Beijing. In 1996 he was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment in Hebei province for theft, and was released in 2001, three years before the end of the term.

On the night of October 21, 2004 he got into the Beixin Kindergarten in the Dongcheng District of Beijing intending to steal. He disturbed the teacher who was on night duty, and raped and killed her, smothering her with a quilt. The noise woke a five-year-old boy, and he beat the boy to death with a fire extinguisher.

Three other people had been killed in the two years before that. The kindergarten killings were widely covered in the Chinese press and produced an immediate manhunt, and he was arrested two days later, on October 23.

The Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People's Court convicted him in September 2005 of murder, rape, molestation and theft, and sentenced him to death. He lodged no appeal.

He also confessed to sixteen further offences committed before these, three of which were murders. Nothing in the accessible record says what became of those confessions, and they are not part of the count of five.

He was executed in Beijing on December 20, 2005. Before it he said he was sorry for his mother. He said nothing to the families of the people he had killed.

The victims are not named in anything available here. The dead teacher's age is given as forty-four in the roster and not in the reporting.
