Fred Waterfield and his cousin David Alan Gore abducted and raped women and girls in Indian River County, Florida. He was convicted of two murders in 1984, largely on Gore's testimony, and is not eligible for parole until 2091.
Fred Waterfield was convicted in 1984 of two counts of second degree murder, for the killings of Barbara Ann Byer and Angelica Lavallee, both fourteen, in May 1982. He was sentenced to two consecutive life terms and is not eligible for parole until 2091.
He and David Alan Gore were first cousins and offended together. Gore confessed to six killings in Indian River County between 1981 and 1983; Waterfield was convicted of two of them, and the conviction rested substantially on his cousin's testimony. He has never admitted to any of it.
The pair were arrested in July 1976 for the rape at gunpoint of a woman near Vero Beach, five years before the first killing. No charge was brought. The woman was later called as a prosecution witness at Waterfield's murder trial, and was told the statute of limitations had run out on the crime committed against her.
