Brown was born in 1958 and lived in the Fort Worth area of Texas. He was known as Bandit.
Between 1984 and 1986 young women were abducted, raped and killed in Tarrant County, some shot and some strangled. He was convicted of one of the murders in 1989 and sentenced to life imprisonment.
The three named in the record are Terece Gregory, twenty-nine; Sharyn Kills Back, eighteen; and Jewel Woods, fifty-one.
In 2009, after cold case review and DNA testing, he was charged with two further killings. He pleaded guilty and received two more life terms. The agreement drew public criticism, one victim's brother saying that a plea had spared the family nothing and the state a trial it should have held.
