Maslich was born in 1972. He was already serving a sentence when, in two separate incidents in the 1990s, he strangled a cellmate, cooked parts of the body and ate them. He received death sentences in 1995 and in 1996.
Russia suspended executions in 1996 under its Council of Europe commitments and has carried out none since, so the sentences will have become life imprisonment in practice. Nothing accessible records his status.
The accessible account describes two cellmates killed in two incidents. A figure of four circulates and is not supported by anything available, so this entry is written on the two.
The source base is thin: brief Russian and Western press references to a death row prisoner in Siberia. No judgment is published, the victims are unnamed, and there is no account of either proceeding. This is one to re-check before reprint, both for the count and for the status.
