Since this is the official website of the Serial Killer Calendar , we feel it is appropriate to include a detailed list of every historical events dealing with these killers. In this section, you can select any date of the year from the list on the left to find out exactly what happened on that day in serial killer history. Whether it is a killer's birthday, an execution, a murder or any other major event, you will find it here. Understand that this is a massive, on-going project and the staff of Serialkillercalendar.com will continuously add to the list of events that appear here. January 31 , 1978 - Dennis Rader
On January 31, 1978, BTK mailed a letter to the Wichita Eagle-Beacon . Within the letter was a short poem about Shirley Vian, who was murdered in March 1977. However, it was accidentally routed to the advertising department by mistake and it went overlooked for days. "It seemed as though every day we were waiting to see what would happen next," said Rose Stanley, who began work at a Wichita TV station just before the killings began.
